I will be presenting 4 sessions on WCF 4 and Windows Azure AppFabric at the SQL Server Worldwide User Group V-Conference on April 7th through April 9th:
WCF 4: File, New Project, Code, F5
Windows Communication Foundation 4.0 is all about productivity. In this session, learn how easy it is to get up and running with WCF. Whether you are new to WCF or a seasoned veteran, you’ll learn about the simplified configuration experience including default endpoints, bindings and behaviors that make getting your services up and running a breeze.
Interoperable Discovery with WCF 4
In this session, Rick will introduce support in WCF 4 for dynamically discovering available services on a network. You’ll learn about how useful WS-Discovery is for dynamically publishing and consuming available services on a network in an interoperable manner. Rick will explain how easy it is to configure WCF services and clients for ad-hoc discovery as well as hook in to notification events when a service joins or leaves the network. In addition, you’ll gain a fundamental understanding of the benefits of managed discovery and some suggestions on how to implement it effectively.
Routing Patterns Made Easy with WCF 4
Learn how WCF 4 helps to reduce the cost-value gap in implementing more sophisticated service-oriented patterns for building smarter, more resilient applications with greater reach and looser coupling. Rick will introduce the new routing capabilities in WCF 4 that bring elegant messaging patterns such as service virtualization, multicasting and back up services to your fingertips with the new Routing Service.
Making Software + Services Tenable with the Windows Azure AppFabric Service Bus
The cloud is here. No longer just an interesting future technology, it is one that developers, architects and CXOs must leverage if they want to remain competitive and fiscally responsible. How do organizations maximize their investments in current on-premise assets while taking advantage of the dramatic cost and reliability benefits that the cloud offers? More importantly, how can organizations bridge on-premise applications with new capabilities in the cloud? In this session, you’ll understand the problem domain that software + services forces us to reason about and how the AppFabric Service Bus can help. You’ll learn how to expose your on-premise applications and services through firewalls, NAT gateways, and other problematic network boundaries while leveraging the WCF skills you already have.
The conference is delivered over live and on-demand HD streaming and costs $190. There are over 80 sessions across 4 tracks including SQL, .NET, MOSS and BI. One of my favorite things about this approach is that you can watch many sessions live and still go back and view others that you missed or watch the same sessions over again.
